Inpatient Referral Process
If you are a patient, family member, or clinician and would like to refer a patient to RUSK, or request information about referring a specific patient to RUSK, including a brochure, contact our admissions coordinator at 573-817-4617.

Accreditation and Licensing
RUSK is licensed as a hospital by the Missouri Department of Health, is accredited with commendation by the Joint Commission of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

Inpatient Admissions Criteria
All patients admitted to Rusk Rehabilitation Center shall meet general inpatient criteria as established by Medical Staff Guidelines, as well as program specific criteria for admission and discharge. Generally, the patient:
  • Must be medically stable
  • Potential to benefit from rehabilitation
  • Decrease in functional level of independence
  • Actively participating in 2 disciplines of therapy; PT a must
  • Eventually able to tolerate up to 3-hours of therapy a day
  • Goal to return home
  • Willing to participate, ability to learn, and able to improve
  • Need for intense therapy not achievable at home or in LTC setting
  • No patients on vents
  • No permanent nursing home residents
  • Assisted living residents acceptable
  • Physician Approval
  • Financial Approval
  • Bed Availability

Outpatient Referral Process
All patients receiving outpatient services require a physician referral prior to the start of care. The physician referral must include the patient diagnosis (relevant to rehabilitation), type of rehabilitation services required (PT, OT,ST, etc.) treatment procedures (that are provided at Rusk Rehabilitation Center), referral date and physician signature. The date of the referral must not be greater than 30 days prior to the start of care.

Rusk's Hand Rehabilitation Center
